A GUIDE TO THE GEMSTONES USED IN TOUCH JEWELLERY

Throughout the ages, gemstones have been seen as representative of wealth and power. They are beautiful, rare, and durable. Gems may be faceted and polished to enhance their beauty.

There are numerous myths and legends associated with gems. Some tell of cursed stones, others of stones with special powers of healing, or that give good luck to the wearer. Crystal healers believe that each gem has the power to influence the health and well-being of a special part of the body.

The use of turquoise, shell, jet and coral as personal adornment dates from prehistoric times, and silver has been used by the Navajo and Zuni for many years.

Each sign of the Zodiac has a number of gemstones associated with them and these have been incorporated in the gemstone descriptions.
